Level Arena has opened – Portugal’s first Social Gaming Arena

Level Arena has opened in Alverca, 15 minutes from Lisbon. The idea is simple to explain and hard to fit into an old category: a place where the group comes to play, compete, eat, drink and decide whether there is time for one more round.

That is why we call it a Social Gaming Arena. It is not a kart track with a bar next door, nor a bar with a few games in the corner. Games, competition, Level Lounge, food and drinks are all part of the same plan, designed for adults first.

So, what is a Social Gaming Arena?

It is social entertainment in physical form. Instead of everyone staying on their own screen, or the group spending the whole night sitting at a table, there are challenges to play together, scores to compare and a good excuse to ask for a rematch.

At Level Arena, technology serves that dynamic. It is there to make the games faster, more competitive and more shareable, not to make anyone read a manual before they start.

Five ways to get the group playing

  • BattleKart: electric karting with augmented reality, six game modes and digital tracks projected onto the floor.
  • Bomb Squad: a team mission against the clock, for groups that work best when the pressure rises.
  • Gamer: a live game show with duels of general knowledge, reflexes, memory, aim and strategy.
  • The Level Wall: an interactive wall with targets, movement and a leaderboard; the attraction’s communication may feature Angry Birds within the scope of the existing licence.
  • Arcade / Retro Bar Games: games to keep the competition going outside the main experiences and to link the venue to the nostalgia of the Level Museum.

Level Lounge: the plan doesn’t end when the round does

The Level Lounge carries the same weight as the games in the experience. There is food to share, burgers, pizzas, drinks, air hockey and arcades. It is for arriving, staying between rounds or extending the night, not for waiting while everyone else finishes having fun.

This is also where the “Games, Bar and Food” idea becomes literal: the group doesn’t need to leave the venue to turn an activity into a complete plan.

Adult-first, with a dedicated window for minors

The voice and atmosphere of Level Arena are adult by default. At weekends, until 5 pm, the venue also welcomes minors and families, always respecting the requirements of each experience. At all other times, Level is exclusively for adults.

First visit? Start by choosing how you want to compete

Speed, mission, game show or interactive wall: the best starting point is working out what kind of group you are. Then check availability and current formats when you book. The rest sorts itself out when someone starts saying “next time I’ll win”.
